Pioneering Stewardship

Financially Competent, Community-Focused

Let me take a moment of your time and introduce myself. My name is Douglas Weisbart, and I’m a third-generation Coloradoan. I grew up in southeast Denver and graduated from Cherry Creek High School. I received my BA from the University of Puget Sound in Washington State and the University of Denver.

I’ve been an entrepreneur for more than five decades, being involved in both the hospitality and technology industries. I previously founded and operated a box lunch and catering company and also was a partner in a technology firm providing software services to the commercial real estate appraisal industry. Most recently I was the CFO for a leasing company, which included providing cash management for assets of approximately $50 million and preparing financial statements.

I have also been associated with several homeowners’ associations, with the financial statements for HOAs being a different animal than the typical corporate statement. The associations I worked with ranged from 145 to over 400 members. One of the lessons learned is that it is critical for the board to maintain close oversight of the HOA management company. It is vital to the community that we have an HOA management firm that understands the HOA board runs the association, not the HOA management company.

My experience and skills make me the right guy to help guide our association as the board of directors begins its tranfer from Toll Brothers to the homeowners. As a board member, I work at the pleasure of the members of the association. I hold these beliefs close to my heart, and I’m counting on your support to ensure our beautiful community remains a place where everyone enjoys living for years to come.

The Current Situation

We have all read the horror stories about HOAs in the state and across the country and their abusive actions, from fines to the sale of homes. Most of the incidents are driven by the HOA management companies, one of the associations of which I was not a board member. The HOA management company ran roughshod over the board and ignored their objections. The association was forced to sell the monthly dues as collateral for a one-million-dollar loan.
It is vital to the community that we have an HOA management firm that understands the HOA board runs the association and not the HOA management company. We all work at the pleasure of the members of the association . I hold this belief close to my heart, and I’m counting on your support so we can make Regency at Montaine a place everyone enjoys living in for years to come.
